Hartford Life Joe was born in Hartford and spent his youth in the surrounding communities. He returned in 1983 to manage the Silver Bell Motel during his college years.
Joe met Patty the same year volunteering for a church youth program. A few years later they married and chose Hartford as an attractive place to raise a family of four boys.
The Fulop family has enjoyed the schools, recreation programs, Schauer Center, library, pool, parks and the many activities offered by the city and local businesses. |
Professional Joe was fortunate to be exposed to businesses at an early age growing up on a farm, apple orchard, and operating motels. He obtained valuable insights related to customer service, money management, and developed a strong work ethic.
Educated in engineering and business administration with 30 years of demonstrated leadership in the power tool industry, Joe has developed a solid foundation in critical thinking and problem-solving, coupled with pragmatic and financial business acumen.
Experience with the trades and construction process has given Joe a comprehensive understanding of design, budgets, and execution.
As an engineer, Joe can navigate the logical elements of problem identification to resolution. He can advise on technology, software, and engineering concepts.
The broad experiences in Joe’s professional life, both technical and personal, align well with topics and issues discussed and acted upon in council. |
Why Joe? Joe’s interest in giving back to the community through public service continues. He has listened, challenged, and provided insight as a member on Common Council, Finance Committee, and as Public Works Committee chair. He is comfortable in a public forum, in a boardroom, or at the kitchen table.
As a seasoned leader, Joe considers not only the financial aspects, but also the human and emotional elements in guiding a team to resolution. Joe sees himself as a conservative and steps into the moderate on occasion — balancing both short and long term benefits of financial decisions when considering what is best for the community.
Joe has enjoyed the past seven years as alderman. He looks forward to the challenge and responsibility of being Mayor and a steward for the City of Hartford.
